Mercedes-Benz Spring Tune-up

2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC driving in the woods

Winter can be exceptionally hard on your vehicle. For one, your battery has to work much harder to supply your vehicle with electricity in the cold, which can significantly reduce its capacity by Spring. What’s more, cold weather can degrade the efficiency of your vehicle’s vital fluids, and the combo of road salts and ice on Niagara roads can cause your vehicle to rust. It goes without saying that, Spring vehicle maintenance is a must if you want to ensure that your vehicle is roadworthy after a Canadian Winter.

Take a moment to learn about what a Mercedes-Benz tune-up entails. Then, explore our service specials and contact Performance Mercedes-Benz for assistance in St Catharines.

Why is Spring Vehicle Maintenance So Important?

As we mentioned earlier, a Spring tune-up is important because Winters are rough on vehicles in a number of ways. Let’s take a closer look at why you should always schedule for a Mercedes-Benz tune-up in early Spring:

  • The ice and salt of Niagara-on-the-Lake roads rust the metal in your vehicle.
  • Battery cells become denser in Winter, slowing down the speed with which electricity travels throughout the systems of your vehicle. This causes your battery to work harder and can degrade its ability to hold a charge.
  • The vital fluids in your vehicle will thicken in the cold and become less efficient. What’s more, the reservoirs which contain those liquids may crack and develop leaks as they contract in the cold (which makes molecules huddle more tightly, and matter, more dense).
  • Your windshield wipers probably need new rubber from being repeatedly iced over in the Winter.

What Are the Differences Between Mercedes-Benz Service A & B?

Mercedes-Benz Service A* and Mercedes-Benz Service B* are two rotating maintenance intervals. In order to stay in compliance with your manufacturer warranty and maximize the resale value of your vehicle, you’ll need to make sure you have both of these Mercedes-Benz tune-ups performed on schedule. The first, Mercedes-Benz Service A*, occurs at 20,000 km or 1 year (whichever comes first). The second, Mercedes-Benz Service B*, occurs at 40,000 km or 2 years (whichever comes first). Once you’ve had both tune-ups performed, you’ll switch off between the two at every 20,000 km or 1 year interval. Let’s take a look at what services they include:

  • Synthetic Motor Oil Replacement**
  • Oil Filter Replacement**
  • All fluid level checks and corrections are dependent on factory-recommended service intervals for your vehicle’s year and model
