History of Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz was originally created by two engineers who possessed an unrelenting passion for design and mechanics. One of those engineers, Karl Benz built a noteworthy motorized tricycle in 1886 before ever meeting the other creator, Gottlieb Daimler. Daimler technically created the first Mercedes in 1900 as part of his company called DMG. Benz and Daimler met, and their mutual love for innovation and performance eventually resulted in merging into Daimler-Benz in 1926.

Just one year later, over 7,000 Mercedes-Benz cars were produced by Karl and Gottlieb’s enterprise — and they had an incredibly lucrative production. The Mercedes-Benz W15 entered the market three years later, rising in popularity to become one of the most sought-after cars of its time.

What Does the Mercedes 3-Pointed Star Logo Symbolize?

So, what is the Mercedes-Benz logo, and what does the Mercedes-Benz logo mean? The sons of Gottlieb Daimler, Paul, and Adolf, were the first to dream up and design the now-famous Mercedes logo. The first version of their Mercedes-Benz logo was inspired by an icon their father would put on the family’s outgoing mail: a gold star. As the Mercedes-Benz brand evolved, so did the logo. It eventually transformed into a more sophisticated white star surrounded by a thick circle.

The logo as we know it today — whether illuminated on the grille of newer models or mounted on the hood as a symbol of premier automotive engineering and design — has come to embody the Mercedes-Benz luxury. Car buyers who opt for a new or pristine certified pre-owned Mercedes-Benz will certainly drive throughout Niagara-on-the-Lake and Pelham with pride, knowing the history and meaning behind the three-pointed star.

Mercedes-AMG Logo Symbolism

The AMG logo features an apple tree to the left, and to the right, engine components like a cam and valve. The apple tree represents the town where the AMG performance engineering division is located: Affalterbach. The name of this town combines the German word for apple tree: “affalter,” with the word bach, meaning: “stream.” As for the other side of the logo, the engine parts gesture towards the AMG legacy of innovation in automotive performance technologies.
