What Does the PRE-SAFE® Mercedes-Benz System Do?

• If the system senses a potential rollover, the windows and sunroof will close to prevent as much debris as possible from entering the vehicle
• Tension in the front safety belts is automatically increased to help protect the front passengers from injury

In some Mercedes-Benz vehicles, you will also have the option of PRE-SAFE® Sound. This advanced safety feature emits pink noise, an audio frequency commonly used to equalize loudspeakers. Also available in select Mercedes-Benz models is PRE-SAFE® Impulse Side®. This PRE-SAFE® offering is designed to decrease the force of a side collision for the driver and front passenger. When the sensors detect an imminent side collision, a chamber housed in the front seat bolsters will inflate in mere seconds. This moves the occupant farther away from the side of the vehicle, protecting their torso from impact.

PRE-SAFE® “Functions Limited” in Your Mercedes-Benz

At some point, you may see the words “PRE-SAFE® Functions Limited” in your Mercedes-Benz. This is to alert you that your PRE-SAFE® system is in need of maintenance at an authorized service centre. Typically, the message will display on the information panel located directly behind your steering wheel. Oftentimes the issue is nothing serious; a sensor may just need to be adjusted or cleaned.
